St
John’s RC Primary School is a Voluntary Aided school in the
Salford Diocese and is situated on the outskirts of Burnley near
to Burnley General hospital.
We cater for children who live in the Burnley area between the
ages of four and eleven.
This
original building was opened as a school in 1895.
The present building was occupied in 1975.
The building is single storey and has extensive grounds including
two playgrounds, trim trail, wildlife garden and an all weather
pitch.
Internally there are seven permanent classrooms and two temporary
classrooms. We have a large hall and gymnasium, a computer suite,
nurture room and two libraries.
The
school is well served by support services. We have our own Pastoral
Support staff. They are Learning Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker
and Family Learning Leader.
We have our own dedicated school nurse and have regular visits
from the Educational Psychologist and specialist teachers.
We also have advice and courses provided by Lancashire Authority
and the Salford Diocesan Schools Commission.
There are links with the local community through the Tenants Association,
work experience schemes, Health Service, Road Safety Officer, Community
Police and St John’s Parish.
We have a thriving PTA, which provides great support for the school.
